Pre-Conference Dinner in magdas Hotel

“STAY OPEN MINDED!”

Time: 6th November 2019, from 18:30

On the evening before the conference it is our desire to say thank you to our supporters: speakers, sponsors and our advisory board.  This is the time to get in the mood for a successful conference. We have planned an extraordinary night where we bring together the key players to meet each other and discover a differed kind of hospitality in an informal setting.

We are very proud to draw your attention to the magdas Hotel, a social business run by the Catholic aid agency, Caritas Vienna, where two thirds of staff are refugees. Housed in a former retirement home, this innovative project aims not just to find jobs for refugees, but also to turn themes of travel and forced migration into a happy ending.

The concept of magdas has attracted huge media attention. There is a lot of good feeling towards the hotel from Viennese natives, who are actively involved in the culture, gardening and handicraft features of the hotel space. The project features upcycled furniture and was developed by legendary Vienna architects “Alles Wird Gut.” Each room features unique art from the University of Applied Arts, which is located next door.

And so we will explore this unusual experiment, and eat a buffet reflecting the countries the staff originally come from, while offering the opportunity to connect with other speakers and sponsors of the International Hotel Investment and Design Conference.

Be prepared for cultural affairs.

There are just ten extra places available for those who would like to be part of this event, previewing the Conference the next day – an opportunity in an informal setting to have more time with our special guests and the advisory board of the IHIDC.
